HMCPSI is set-up under statute and as such has a duty to report on CPS Performance annually, relating to periods running from 1st October to 30th September each year. These are known as the Chief Inspector's Annual Report. The following demonstrates the reports published relating to the periods indicated: For the purposes of planning HMCPSI adopt the annual year that coincides with the budget, namely that of April to March. As of April 2002 HMCPSI has started to produce an Annual Business Report on its delivery of the objectives set-out in its Business Plan for the relevant period. For the financial year April 2002 - March 2003, HMCPSI has combined its Strategic and Business Plans into one document. .
