HMCPSI priorities for inspection are set out in our HMCPSI Business Plan 2011-12. Our principles of inspection accord with the Government’s policy on inspection of public services which were published in July 2003 (Crown copyright 2003 reference 27881/0703/D8)

HMCPSI reports annually to the Attorney on the performance of the CPS and other prosecuting authorities which we inspect. This is in addition to other individual and thematic inspection reports. The Chief Inspector’s annual report includes a summary of activity in the previous year. These are usually published in July.
